Position Description
École Polytechnique offers training to highly selected engineering students with a high-level scientific education and a multidisciplinary curriculum. In addition to the École Polytechnique's historic engineering degree, Master and doctoral programs, the École Polytechnique is developing a range of Masters in Science and Technology, Bachelors and Executive Master programs. Since 2019, École Polytechnique has been part of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris. Its creation has strengthened opportunities for collaboration with partners close to the School that are also members of the Institute (Télécom, Télécom SudParis, ENPC, ENSTA, ENSAE). The Institut Polytechnique de Paris is located on the Saclay plateau, within an ecosystem of higher education establishments, companies (EDF, Danone, Carrefour, Thales, Safran, etc.) and research centres (CEA, INSERM, CNRS, etc.). Given the extent and excellence of the School's research centre and the strength of its alumni network, the École Polytechnique is well positioned to play a leading role in the development of this ecosystem. The School offers an attractive environment in which to develop an original education and research program. The Department of Mathematics at École polytechnique is hiring one Monge Professor. This is a tenure-track position, which consists in two three-year contracts. After completion of a habilitation and a positive evaluation, this will lead to a Professor position. As part of IP Paris, the teacher-researcher recruited will be a member of the IP Paris Mathematics Department, with the title of Assistant Professor and Associate Professor once the “Habilitation à diriger des recherches” has been obtained. Applicants should be prepared to get involved in long-term educational and mentoring projects at École polytechnique at any teaching level. Courses are expected to be given in English for some part of the teaching load. Research activities will be carried out within one of the groups of the Centre de Mathématiques Laurent Schwartz (algebra and number theory, analysis and partial differential equations, geometry and dynamical systems). Applicants will be mathematicians having international recognition in their field and demonstrating excellent teaching skills. It is expected that the applicant will defend a habilitation thesis within a couple of years after hiring. Ecole Polytechnique values diversity. We will give equal consideration to all applications, regardless of gender identity, age, geographical origin, disability status, etc. Ecole polytechnique is an equal opportunity employer.
